I PLEDGE TO NIGERIA MY COUNTRY

INTRODUCTION
Today marks another day Nigeria choose to celebrate the Democracy day. It is marked by series of events in honour of the day. However, the recitation of the National Anthem and  Pledge  is symbolic to the unified Nigeria. In the previous publication, there i start up the analysis of the Pledge to the True Nigerians. But the truth be, is the Pledge really working for a unified Nigeria?

Topic Exposition
To defend our unity. The idea of unity is complex to understanding in Nigeria society. This is because what some term unity  is different from what others called it. Even in conspiracy, there is unity, people can be unify to do good and likewise people can be unify to do bad. And that is why in a country like Nigeria where there are people of different history, background, diversity in language and in short a heterogeneous society, the idea of unity defers.

Some peoples believe of unity is a localised one and not a national one as enriched in the National Pledge. Nigeria was built on an Ancient Unity but alas the unity has been shattered, punctured and possibly sent into extinction as a result of our actions.

How much more have we defended and still defending our unity? The unity wasn't a tribal unity or a sectional unity but a national unity, a cause for the country's oneness and togetherness. Different things has been happening in recent time which is making the defenders of the unity to be weak, the national unity cannot be defended by one entity it  requires the work of everyone.

The motion for self government or independent is a disturbance to the national unity or growth of the Country. Though the leaders have been trying to see that the country don't go apart yet some are still pulling it down.

It is pertinent to say that, those who cry for self governance or independent might have been wrong in one way or the other, but can two wrongs makes a right? or remember the Ancient Unity. The government might have failed, this is because they are humans and not divine instead of standing for them, praying for them and helping them we stood against the unity of the country.

Killing of People is not new to us as to many groups stood up to kill fellow humans. Unknown gunmen, unknown people, herdsmen among many others who had been killing for one reason or the other, have we really taken time to see what it means to defend our unity. We that ought to be protecting our people, our fellow Nigerians we are now the enemies of ourselves. If the National Pledge has a lot of meanings to you, why not defending our unity?

...and uphold her honour and glory.... The country is a glorious country and a country that should be honoured by neighbouring countries but how have we being treated within and without the country?. The Country's currency was very valued in recent years but what happened to it now, why the depreciation?

The glory of the country made the country to be the giant of Africa, but are we bold enough to say we are giant of Africa? Where have we truly gotten it wrong in the country?

A Brief Pause for now.
The betterment of this country's lies in your hands and my hands and not the government alone like we do say, Remember before one get into an office of leadership, he or she was once a follower. Let us work together to see that Nigeria comes back to her feet, instead of clamouring,  fighting, having bitterness in our heart against another, why not working towards achieving a better Nigeria by fulfilling each wordings of the National Pledge with the conclusion that SO HELP ME GOD.

Let us acknowledged that many would have loved to fulfill the pledge as stated but they can't just do it alone and that is why it is important to ask God for help, and I believe with His Help we can do it.
